Silk is one of the most expensive materials in the world. The price depends on the quality of the silk and its weight. Our goal is to offer a wide range of 100% silk that will suit your needs. Whether you are looking for fans from the cheaper category, with which you can do anything during training, or more expensive, higher-quality fans that are perfect for performing, everyone can choose from us.

What is the difference between training silk fans and premium silk fans?

Training silk fans are cheaper than premium fans. They are made of lighter 100% silk that flows beautifully in space. Because silk is lighter, it is more susceptible to abrasion or damage. All fans are inspected and meet our high quality standards. We make some fans ourselves and other fans are made by our partners abroad. Since we are just starting with the production and dyeing of silk and this process takes many years before each part is absolutely perfect, we also offer as training fans those that we make ourselves and do not meet our "premium" standard - that means, for example, that the color transition is not perfect whether there were small imperfections during the gluing of the silk to the wooden body. Due to the price of the silk itself, we try to send these fans to the world at a reduced price. You will be informed in advance of any imperfections that have no effect on the functionality of the fans.

Premium silk fans are made of 100% habotai 8 or pongé 5 silk and hand-dyed and glued in our workshop. Each pair of fans is original and we never make 2 sets that are exactly the same (due to the handmade production, this is not even possible). The lower edge of the fans is equipped with a hem to prevent fraying. The colors are heat fixed on the silk and therefore the fans do not lose their colour over time. We recommend that you first think about the purpose for which you want to use your fans and choose the material accordingly.

Silk pongé 5 is soft, light and flows beautifully in space. It is more suitable for slower movement. Due to its weight, it is more "transparent" and the colors may appear less bright. Finer silk is more prone to tearing. So we recommend dancing with these fans inside. It is less controllable in light winds.

Habotai 8 silk is the highest grammage you will find here. It means that it is of the highest quality and therefore the most expensive. Due to the higher weight, it does not flow as much in the space, the colors are brighter, it is less transparent, beautifully shiny and least prone to tearing. During flow, it is characterized by its sound (sounds almost like a fire to me). It is more suitable for a faster, dynamic flow and is perfect for outdoor performances, where it makes easy to dance even in a light wind.

How to care for your new silk fans?

100% silk is a material that requires special handling. There are a few basic rules to keep in mind:

1. if the silk is wrinkled, it does not flow in the space as we want. We recommend ironing at a low temperature time to time (silk program on the iron)

2. we recommend storing the silk loosely in the space (so that the silk part hangs freely) to prevent creasing

3. dancing with silk is not suitable in wet conditions (rain, fog, etc.). The bamboo part could be warped, the color gradients destroyed, the colors washed out or it could get mold if you left the fans wet in the bag. If your fans accidentally get wet, we recommend hanging them up and letting them dry completely. A low temperature ironing can also help.

4. silk is prone to tearing - some more, some less. If you use fans outside, always be aware of environment and remove, for example, branches that could tear the silk.
